  • The Cooperation Unit Clinical Pharmacy attends to all processes affecting effectiveness and safety of drug therapy.
  • The Cooperation Unit Clinical Pharmacy determines modulators of effectiveness, develops and evaluates strategies for individualized therapy.

Structure

  • The Cooperation Unit Clinical Pharmacy is financed by the Hospital Pharmacy and Department of Internal Medicine VI, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacoepidemiology.
  • The Cooperation Unit Clinical Pharmacy is responsible for clinical pharmacy in research and teaching according to the License Ordinance for Pharmacists at the Institute of Pharmacy and Molecular Biotechnology, University Heidelberg.

Fields of activity

  • Pharmaceutical care
  • Teaching in clinical pharmacy according to the License Ordinance for Pharmacists

Projects

  • In close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals, clinical pharmacists support processes of drug distribution and dosage individualization in patient care. Furthermore, strategies to solve drug related problems are developed while strictly following principles of quality management.
  • The research of the Cooperation Unit Clinical Pharmcy aims at clinical contents of drug therapy optimization and uses case related and epidemiological methods as well as electronic devices. Detection, documentation, and resolution of drug related problems (e.g. noncompliance, interactions, dosage individualization) and seamless care are matters of particular interest.
  • The Cooperation Unit Clinical Pharmacy is responsible for the teaching and examination in clinical pharmacy at the Institute of Pharmacy and Molecular Biotechnology. Education, training, and the specialisation are undertaken by a team of physicians and pharmacists, both in theory through lectures and in practice through bed side teaching.
